There's so much to see and do in Salisbury that it's hard to know where to start - the Cathedral, the walks besde the river, Oldsarum, Stonehenge and Salisburyplain ... to the south, the New Forest and Bournemouth, to the west Fovant and Old Wardour Castle.

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral was started in 1220 it was completed by 1258, with the Spire, the tallest in England (404ft) added a generation later.

In the Cathedral Close, you'll ind a number of other treasures such as Mompesson house - a fine 18th Century building that's now in the care of the National Trust and features in the film of "Sense and Sensibility"

Salisbury is less than an hour from our Melksham base. The Melkshamtrain runs though Westbury, with some direct services carrying on to Salisbury (and connections being available otherwise).
