About 35 miles to the west on London, Reading is a bustling town that's not quite big enough to enjoy City status - but it's big never the less. It's not a tourist spot - rather, it's renowned for its high tech / IT business park, its major railway interchange, and its location on the river Thames at Caversham. However, I'm told that it hardly got a mention in "Three Men in a Boat".
