The Pennines

The Pennines is a tangle of hills that form a backbone between the North West and North East of England. At the top, you'll find Carlisle to the West and Newcastle to the East. Head south along the Pennines and you'll have Lancaster to your west and Leeds to your East.

See also Worthvalley and Halifax for some further pictures to the south.

I'm not the world's greatest speller - my thanks to Richard H for reminding me that it's Pennines not Penines - and I have corrected the page. However, the page now has two URLs so that any links (yeah, right !) won't be broken
