Floating Harbour, Bristol
![]() Floating Harbour Bristol is on the Avon, but that has a huge tidal range for many miles inland - up to Keynsham (halfway to Bath). The Floating Harbour is engineered as a bypass section for the river, with locks at either end to keep a fixed water level available to ships loading and unloading at the quay sides. Today, it forms a lovely backdrop to the city and a great leisure resource.
