For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Ashburn, Loudoun County, Virginia

[imgl=ashmall]Ashburn, Virginia - Town centre[/imgl]Ashburn, Virginia, is a fast growing township about 10 miles to the North West of Washington Dulles Airport.

[imgr=ashhouses] Housing at Ashburn, Virginia[/imgr] Seemingly endless estates of new houses dwarf 'Old Ashburn'. Ashburn was known as Farmwell until 1896, but then renamed after an ash tree caught fire and supposedly burned for a week.

[imgl=asholdrr]The Washington and Old Dominion Railroad[/img] Ran from Alexandia to Bluemont, Virginia. Founded 1847. Opened in 1860 to Leesburg, later to Bluemont. Electrified in (?) 1912. Passenger services ceased in 1951, line abandoned in 1968. Today it's a cycle way. (or for the most part it is - is it significant that the Orange line of the Metro also has stations at Vienna, Dun Loring, East Falls Church, West Falls Church and Rosslyn?).

[imgr=ashwodtoday]At Ashburn - Washington and Old Dominion today[/imgr] The Washington and Old Dominion Railroad as it is today. More of the W and OD history and Old picture of Ashburn Station

[imgl=asholdroad]Vestals Gap Road[/imgl]Vestals Gap Road also ran from the DC Area, through Londoun County, and on to West Virginia. Perhaps it was the old road at Colvin Run Mill, here it is in a small historic park near Dulles Town Center, and we also saw a short section on our day out to Harpers Ferry

[imgr=ashnewroads]New Roads at Ashburn[/imgr]Today, new roads such as the Claibourne Parkway - seen here in Ashburn - dwarf the old roads which have been long since swept away ...

[imgl=ashshmall]Dulles Town Center[/imgl] ... and shopping Malls such as the Dulles Town Center gave sprung up along the modern roads such as Route 7 (The Leesburg Pike)
