Resources from the web site of Well House Consultants on the subject of During the course. We provide
Courses usually run from 09:00 on the first day
to 17:00 on most days (finish by 16:45 on the last day).
Outside those hours, you've welcome to use the library
and customer lounge, continue with your practicals or
check your email in the training room, and ask your tutor and
our other staff questions if you wish. Staff are on
duty from 06:30 in the morning until the evening, and
if you're staying with us your room card will get you
into the training room in the middle of the night if
you REALLY want to (but most delegates just take our
laptops up to their rooms!)

"Well House Consultants - Python courses / what's special." - in answer to a request from a potential delegate.
Some delegates come with prior programming experience / others without - and they require different starting points. So we offer "Learning to Program in Python" - 5 days for newcomers to coding, ...
|4132||Using your own laptop on our courses - now even easier!|
Ten years ago, we always provided equipment for delegates to use during courses. Delegates had their own desktop systems at work for the most part, and moving those into a training room was impractical. But times have changes, and more often than not these days - for programming courses such as Python ...

For a couple of brief months in the summer, it's light enough after a day of training to go for a good walk in the countryside ... as we did on Tuesday evening down to The Barge at Seend.
It's about 3 miles from out training centre and hotel at Well House Manor to "The Barge". The first mile ...

"Teaching isn't only about knowing your subject. It's also about selecting which parts of that subject are relevant to your current audience, and passing on that knowledge to them in a way which makes them understand it, be motivated by it, retain it, and make good ongoing use of it"
I enjoy being ...
|3233||C / C++ Course Lunch - sitting out at the West End|
This week we are running C and C++ training courses. It was such a lovely day that we walked to the "West End" for lunch - that's Melksham's West End pub, and not the West End of London. The pub, a member of the "Hungry Horse" chain (Greene King, Bury St Edmunds) has recently been refurbished. ...

As we're reviewing our prices for the coming year (2010), we compare what we offer with other training companies offering courses on the same programming languages. Our new year decisions were already made, based on last year's research, but earlier today I visited the web sites of Learning Tree, GB ...

Do we train in Finnish or in French, in Dutch or Danish? No - we don't, but many technical people in Finland and France, in the Netherlands and Denmark have English as an excellent second language and can gainfully take our courses - especially those courses which are so niche that there is no alternative ...
|1035||Longer hours and better value courses|
Last year, we started at a quarter to ten on the first day of our courses, and ended at about half past four on the last day. And indeed, hours like those are standard for EVERY day at some other establishments. How long lunch takes can be a significant factor too!
This year, we're starting daily ...

I was told during last week's course that I'm much more approachable that I look in my picture and I'm delighted with that, though at the same time wondering if I should change the picture concerned to one that's a little less formal.
I'm following a conversation on a list server concerning dress for ...

|1459||Interactive training, and advancing techniques further|
One of the unusual things about the way that I train is that I write examples in front of my classes - I don't just go through cases that have been prepared ahead of time. Not only does that mean that I can show people what they want to see rather that what I have guessed they want to see, but it also ...
|1420||The Learning Perl crew, October 2007|
All of our delegates are special, and 99% of them are a pleasure to teach - but I'll look back on last week's group with a particular fondness.
We've been open and running as a hotel now for a year, and - more and more - our public courses aren't just 9 to 5 events. Rather they're a chance to share ...
|1363||One computer per delegate, or pair programming?|
We provide one laptop computer per delegate during our courses, and we're proud to do so - such a scheme works well for the majority of most of our programming courses, with each individual from his / her own company having practical coding exprience during the course.
However - for certain exercises ...

On our public courses, we get a wide variety of delegates - ranging from those with very little prior knowledge of the subject that they're learning right through to some delegates who are attending more to "dot i's and cross t's". And then the subjects that we teach have such a huge variety of different ...

Many years ago, I was sent on a sales training course. Truth be told, I didn't want to go but I had a wise boss and I decided to make the most of it.
