Learning about string handling in Perl on a course at our training centre. Perl has a fabulous menu of string handling facilities. On our introductory level courses we bring initial string handling (including simple regular expressions) in very early so that students get plenty of chance to practise for early on .... then we run a second module to cover more advanced string handling about two thirds of the way through the class.
