A happy trainee

A happy trainee

"Progamming Perl" by Larry Wall, Tom Christiansen and Jon Orwant is THE authority book on Perl. And on the front cover it has the byline "there's more than one way to do it". How true, and whilst this makes Perl an excellent language for many applications, it can also make it a daunting language to learn properly. This picture was taken on our "Perl for Larger Projects" course on which we cover Object Orientation in Perl, Perl and SQL, Perl and XML, POD and a number of other topics for trainees with some prior Perl experience. We've entitled the picture "A happy trainee" and that's a typical reaction by the end of the course; Perl really is a superb toolkit, and once our tutor has helped you see your way through the myriad of facilities it offers, you'll realise that you have something that will let you write code quickly and efficiently that will be flexible and maintainable for the future.
