Olympia - original site of the Ancient Olympic Games

The temple of Juno, at ancient Olympia in Greece. The temple was built about 500 BC and the ancient Greeks ran the original Olympic games on this site ... a practise that only ended around 300 AD when the Romans who had invaded by that time stopped them and declared them to be against the law. We docked for an afternoon at Katakolon and took a coach ride to see the ruins - swarming with crowds of Geeks, Gamblers (who were also on our boat on a convention) and independent travellers. But, here and there, the opportunity to take a picture stripped of people and get more of a flavour for the place. We must return some day - with a little more time, and a lot fewer people.
