Ephesus - once of the ancient wonders

Ephesus - once of the ancient wonders

The Library at Ephesus, near Izmir, in Turkey. Reconstructed using nearly 80% original stone, this frontage starts to give an idea of what Ephesus must have looked like. We noted that the brothel opposite has not been reconstructed, which perhaps gives some idea of the enduring nature of books in comparison to other matters. I don't suppose that our "Open Source" library of some 500 books will endure like Epehesus - indeed we seem to have a never ending flow of additions as we keep up with modern technological advances - but I thought I would use this picture to provide a link to some really interesting books on our site.
