Venice was the starting point for "Perl Whirl 4" - a conference on a cruise ship which included an opportunity to listen to some of the best known names in Perl speaking on the subject to relatively small groups. We're very conscious that our trainees want to learn how to write good Perl today, and good Perl tomorrow - so it was especially useful to listen to the likes of Allison Randal talk on the forthcoming Perl 6 - going through such aspects as DWIM and topicalization - and to Larry Wall himself looking forward too.
