A complete PHP application
![]()
When you learn PHP, you need to learn both the programming language and its application. You'll want to join a
series of pages together to perform a complete task, with data passed through from one page to another - this is
known as maintaining state (or using sessions) and uses HTTP cookies. You'll also learn that it's best practise
to separate your HTML from your PHP as far as possible and that the best way to do this is to use a templating
system. Finally, the need for data validation at each stage and the offering of help information is vital.
Our "Designing PHP Applications - Best Practise" module covers these important topics, and trainees have
an opportunity to write such an application themselves, or to tailor their own application from a sample
framework that we provide.
