Lacock Abbey - 4 miles from Melksham
![]()
Lacock Abbey was founded in 1232 and has a long and colourful history. One of the more notable events was the
discovery by Fox Talbot of the negative-positive photographic process while a resident there. These days, the Abbey
and much of the village is owned by the National Trust. You can wander around the village in the evening after
your course, and if you're a keen photographer why not extend you stay for a day after your Perl or Python course
and see the fascinating museum which is open daily in the summer, and winter weekends.
