For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Practical sessions on our courses
All of our training courses include substantial practicals, for which we provide you with a laptop computer running Linux, Windows or Mac OS X - your choice if you let us know which you prefer ahead of time. You're also welcome to use your own laptops on our network if you prefer.

Practicals are a vital part of our training. They let you check that you understand the subject just taught, and they allow you to consolidate your knowledge of that subject before we move on to the next topic. During practicals, your tutor is available for questions and will go round to each trainee in turn to help address any particular questions they have and to address how the topic just covered relates to their particular application. To provide plenty of time for each trainee during these discussions, we limit trainees on public courses to a maximum of seven; numbers can rise higher on private courses where discussions tend to be more in groups since it's typical that all of the class is working on the same or related projects, and has similar questions.

After your course, we'll email you all the scripts you were working on during the practical sessions - we have a script that does this automatically - so that any work you do that pertains to your future use of what you learnt is available to you. We also provide a directory of data for your use during practicals so that you can ensure that your examples are relevant. Better still, bring your own data to work on so that practicals are really relevant.

We can't stress enough the importance of practicals on a course, and we're more than happy if you want to stop around and get more practise after lectures are over for the day, or come in early and do some more coding if you are a "lark". We also provide support through email and through our Opentalk Forum after the course; you don't just get a course from us - you get an ongoing service to ensure that you get the very best from your investment.

At Well House Consultants, we run public and private training courses on Open Source languages such as Perl, PHP, Python and Tcl/Tk and Expect. We also train on MySQL, Linux and Apache httpd / Apache Tomcat
