For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
The Third Year of Geekmas
We invite YOU to join us on Saturday, 25th November and/or Sunday, 26th November 2006 to celebrate Geekmas.

What IS Geekmas? It's a technical seminar weekend, where we at Well House Consultants throw open our doors and welcome technical friends - geeks - old and new, young and old ..... for a series of update seminars, informal discussions, excellent coffees, and (if you would like to join us) an excellent meal at the local Indian Restaurant.

Our agenda is not yet finalised but will include subjects such as:
• Python, Perl, Ruby - which will still be around in 10 years?
• Remote monitoring (CCTV) - an Open Source approach
• Protecting your wireless intranet via a Splash! server
• C and C++ for youngsters who started with Perl, Python or PHP
• Running a campaign via the Web - Save the Train
• Implementing Capthca to exclude robotic posts
• Using Expect to monitor your servers
• Search engine optimisation - an update

New this year, "Geekmas" will take place at Well House Consultants' new business hotel in Melksham. Well House Manor has five bedrooms, all en-suite, all fitted (of course) with wired and wireless internet access. We've also got two conference rooms (which can be used for parallel sessions if need be during Geekmas), our library of over 600 Open Source books with public internet access and printer, and our dining room where we'll be service breakfast on the Sunday morning.

The Geekmas meetings are FREE, but attendance is by prior booking only please. If you wish to join us at "The Refa", we'll ask you to make a contribution of 10 pounds a head (much easier than trying to split the bill many ways) to include aallll the food and soft drinks you want. And if you want to stay overnight, we're extending our introductory delegate rate to the "Geekmas" weekend and it's just 60 pounds a room including 1 or 2 breakfasts. If you wanted to stay - sorry - all our bedrooms are gone. But please let us know as there is other accommodation nearby that we can put you in touch with.
