For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Does my course include breakfast, lunch, dinner and a hotel room?

You can book your course, and include a room to stay overnight with us through the course at Well House Manor (that's ideal for delegates who don't live nearby), or you can book as a day delegate - if you live in Bath, Chippenham or Trowbridge, that's probably what you'll want to do.

What do you get with the two options?

First and foremost, EVERYONE gets a high quality course, presented by a professional tutor who wrote the notes that accompany the course, and who knows the subject back to front and inside out... and can present it well and help you learn the subject and how to make practical use of it in your job. Courses are limited to 8 delegates to ensure there's plenty of time for everyone's questions, the training room is light and airy, spacious, quiet and laid out with training in mind. All delegates have full use of a laptop for the duration of the course, loaded with all appropriate software, and may also add their own laptop into the network if they wish / prefer to do some work on that.

We provide lunch for all delegates. Some days we'll eat "in", and on other days we'll walk out to the town centre; occasionally, we'll drive a mile or two to a country pub or out of town restaurant. Lunch venues are chosen to give you a wide variety during your course, and also to ensure that you can have a light lunch so that you can concentrate during the afternoon, and to ensure that the course break is long enough to refresh you, but not too long that it bites into learning time. If you have a specific requirements in terms of what or where you can eat, please let us know in good time and we can usually tune the lunch provision to meet your needs.

Unlimited coffee, tea, herbal teas, soft drinks and water are on hand for all delegates at all times that they're with us. Day delegates are welcome to arrive early (we're on site by 7 a.m.) and to stay late if they wish, to extend their practical sessions, use our library and internet facilities, and talk with other delegates and the tutor who is usually available for much longer than the formal 9 to 5 training day.

We also serve breakfast for delegates who stay at Well House Manor - it's a much extended continental breakfast including freshly baked bread, freshly squeezed fruit juice, meats, cheese, preserves, cereal, toast, yogurts, fresh fruit and more and delegates have a hospitality tray in their rooms too.

The only meal we do not provide ourselves for course delegates is an evening meal - if you would like to eat in, you are very welcome to phone an order through to local takeaways who will deliver a wide variety of foods including Indian, Chinese, Italian (Pizza and Pasta too), Chicken / Burgers / Kebabs, etc; we keep their menus available for you, and you're welcome to eat in our breakfast / lunch room, or in your bedroom or at tables outside if you prefer.

Please feel free to bring in your own takeaway too (there are many more establishments who do good takeaway food, but do not deliver), or to go out and eat in the town - a wider range of choice again. We even provide facilities for you to heat food yourself if you prefer to do that.

We are not licensed for the sale of alcohol, but each room has a corkscrew and bottle opener for your use, and the Spar shop 3 doors from us is an offlicence with a good range that's open until 10 p.m. daily.

So... in summary... if you come as a day delegate, we provide everything you need during the day. If you come "residential", we provide everything except your evening meal - and even that can be delivered so that you can remain on site if you wish to.
