What makes a good hotel? Good facilities, and good staff. And what makes an excellent hotel? Excellent facilities, and excellent staff.
We have an excellent team - I (Graham) am pictured here, together with (and in alphabetic order!) Chris, Lisa and Sarah (we have excellent facilities too).
In the current extreme weather conditions, we have had customers canceling events, other customers looking for last minute bookings. We have had travel issues for guests who have been looking to use public transport that wasn't running, and we have had issues with suppliers unable to deliver, with the phone lines under the snow and ice, and two of us have had issues with cars in the first few days of the year.
One of the aspects of excellence is keeping the hotel running, and not being noticed by the customers in doing so. And at the same time planning is such a way that we (staff) don't put ourselves at risk by traveling when it's at its most dangerous, nor risk a journey that we may not be able to complete. I'm delighted to see that
everyone has given consideration to keeping the show on the road safely - checking that there IS a stand in, traveling that bit more gently or earlier, thinking ahead with the credit card machine on the noisy phone line ...and I'm posting up a public and personal THANK YOU this morning.
