For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Tcl embeds

Tcl is perhaps the most "niche" language in which we provide training courses - and also perhaps the oldest. It's used as an embedded language - being written into larger pieces of software to provide a tailoring capability for the users. This means that typical users are required to write just a few lines of Tcl (rather than a complete application), and many of them are programming novices - our public Tcl course is unusual in that we get trainees without prior programming knowledge, and the course is designed and paced to suit them. Tcl is also a little unusual in that we run a lot more private courses than public ones, as trainees often come in groups rather than being "singletons".

Amongst the systems that use embedded Tcl are Vignette (through their VCMS adaptor), UG (Post Builder), Cloverleaf (where callouts are made to Tcl procedures) and Radia (formerly Novadigm, now part of HP). Add to that list a number of applications in the IC and circuit design industries, and I think you'll find that Tcl will be around, thinly spread but important, for years to come.
