For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Where is php.ini under Mac OSX

Subject line says it all really

Running PHP on Mac OSX, and can't find the php.ini file ...

Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 27 June 2003
I had a look on my OSX box and couldn't find the file either, so I guess this is a pretty general question.

PHP doesn't HAVE TO have a php.ini file - it's just there for anything that's to be changed away from the default.   In general, you can find out where it's supposed to be using phpinfo - a PHP page on the web server that says

Code:
<?php

phpinfo();

?>

and the answer it came up with is "/usr/local/lib".

To test this, I put in a file /usr/local/lib/php.ini containing just

Code:
session.name=SESS_ID_WHC

then stopped and restarted the server and reloaded the test page ... and saw the change

yeah, I know this has been answered, but...

Can I also point you towards:
http://www.phpmac.com/

It may be of some use to us unix, erm I mean mac php'ers

(Since I got my mac, my PC has only been turned on a handfull of times, I like!)
