For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Simple Integration Method PHP trouble

Posted by multimediakt (multimediakt), 8 December 2006
hi everyone.

i was pulled into a programming project (i'm a designer by trait with some programming experience) and need to use either PHP or Perl.  It is to be used with Authorize.net to accept donations via credit card on a charitable  website.  I have it working (somewhat) with the Authorize.net site.  I am receiving confirmations through test mode.

One of the problems i'm having is figuring out how to make form fields required.  i have it look for the credit card number and the amount of the donation to be required (through a code i found), but the name, address, city, state, etc, don't have to be entered.

Also, i'm in talks with the organization right now because i can't get it to be https:// either.  it says the certificate is expired.

I apologize for my ignorance.  I'm trying my best to figure all of this out in a few days so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have it posted at http://www.lifelinepilots.org/orderform/orderform.php

If needed I can post my code in here.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.

KT

What looks like a simple question needs a lot - an awful lot - of stuff to be gone through for you to work it - sessions, sticky fields, etc, and that would be quite a challenge in a short oist format such as this forum.  However ...  there's an example that "shows you how" at

with the source code of the demo at
