For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
where did the output go?

I have a script that logs me into a system. It then reads in commands from a file on the local disk, and sends it to the remote system.

At this point I need to capture the output of the command to file. In testing, all output is visible on the terminal, but when I set log_file, everything is recorded *except* the output of the command.

Code:
log_file -noappend script.out
load_cmd $runcmd #builds contents of ossi_list below
foreach element $ossi_list {
send -- $element\n
}
log_file #nothing captured..

Any help would be appreciated

Are you sending the commands as a series without expecting a reply?  I suspect that your Tcl program is teminating before the commands are actually completed and so no output has been received back.   A similar thing happens if you start off an FTP get but don;'t expect the nexct prompt - you get an empty file or just the first few bytes as the parent of the runniing process is killed.

Adding an expect for the returned prompt got logging working. Thanks!
