command for getting current time with milliseconds Posted by shafa.fahad (FahaD), 10 October 2006 Hi,I am using set val [clock format [clock seconds] -format "%A %B %d %H:%M:%S"] to retrieve current system date upto seconds. The output for the above statement is "Tuesday October 10 02:59:09" I would like to know if there is a similar way to retrieve upto milliseconds in the above format. Thanks in advance regards, Fahad Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 10 October 2006 clock clicks -millisecondsPosted by shafa.fahad (FahaD), 11 October 2006 Thanks Graham...I noticed [clock clicks -milliseconds] gives 897430080 [clock format [clock clicks -milliseconds]] gives Sun Jun 14 19:03:38 IST 1998 But those are not the results i expect... Please correct me if i am wrong in syntax.... Thanks in advance, Fahad Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 11 October 2006 clock seconds returns a whole number of seconds, usually based from 1.1.1970, and that's the input clock format requires. clock -clicks .... returns a number in different units and from a different base, so it is not an appropriate input to clock format. It's also system dependent in both the accuracy it returns and the base. You need to look for more details in the manual for your version of Tcl. This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
