canvas text - changing the font size Posted by TimT (TimT), 12 July 2005 Can you change the font size when using the canvas create text command? Also how do you work out the pixel position of a letter within a line of text generated by the above command? Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 12 July 2005 You choose a font of the appropriate size using the -font option - there's an example of the use of different size fonts available in the course material section for the canvas widget. In a fixed width font such as 12x24 or courier, you can work out the position of a character based on the width in pixels of each character * the number of letters in ... and remember that you have 9 options available to position (anchor) the text - also shown in the example above. With proportional fonts, you cannot work it out in this way. Posted by TimT (TimT), 12 July 2005 Thanks Graham for your answer - I should have checked my notes from your course! The tckl/tk pocket reference doesn't list fonts as an optional valueAnother question - can you list the font options available? ( ie font names and font sizes that go with them) Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 13 July 2005 Available fonts are drawn from the GUI of the system on which you're running Tk; on the X Windows systems I'm most familiar with, the command to list them is xlsfontsThis page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
