File Searching Posted by ahmedrubbani (ahmedrubbani), 26 November 2006 Can any body please help me in writing a tcl code or provide a similar code for the task given below. I am very new to tcl and facing lot of difficuties. Please help me out. I look forward to your supportRegards Ahmed You have a big directory tree with many files in it. Some of the files have ".inform" suffixes. Some of the files contain instances of the string "port #nnnn", where nnnn is a hexadecimal number of some length. F1) Core Task Searching only the files with .inform suffix, count the number of instances of each different "port #nnnn" string, where nnnn is a fouror more digit hexadecimal number to a maximum of 32 digits, and output a table of port number against occurrence frequency. Make sure that each file (piece of data on disk) is only scanned once, and that the strings in it are only counted once. Example Output Port frq 0000 1 1384 5 28f6 1 44ff 7 Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 27 November 2006 This looks very much like an exercise from a book or course. You'll learn much more if you attempt the question yourself rather than ask others to do it for you from the very start. Can you talk trough your needs / issues with your teacher /tutor?This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
