Compile time, time stamp under ActiveState'sTclApp Posted by neilvp (neilvp), 18 April 2006 Hi Graham et al,This is perhaps one for the wider community. In a TCL utility that I distribute around my department as a .exe I am wanting to include a timestamp of when the script was compiled - a far more reliable method of version control. The utility is compiled using ActiveState's TclApp but I cannot figure out how to get the compile time, timestamp into the complied code. Can anyone provide hints as to how to do this please? Many thanks NeilVp PS The more I use the ActiveState Tcl stuff, the more I am impressed with it. Komodo takes a bit of getting to use to but it has some very nifty features, auto-hints, syntax check etc. Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 18 April 2006 Help ... I don't know the compiler App; you've gone off beyond me in that particular area, Neil. I think you can probably achieve what you want, though, by running the compile in some sort of batch file that sets up a file containing a Tcl command to set the time into a variable - you would need something likeecho set now \ > current.tcl date /t >> current.tcl in your batch file. Then source the file from within your Tcl program and you have a variable called now that contains the date on which the script was run (i.e. the compile date) which you can report to your user.
