password only for a specific database Posted by shrii2006 (shrii2006), 12 May 2008 Hi...I want to know whether it is possible to give a password to a particular database in Mysql. Im working with linux and using the database as a root.. there are others who know the root password. So i want to secure my database by giving it a password that no one else logging in as root can know.. Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 12 May 2008 You should have a database admin account (it doesn't need to be called root, by the way) that's not common knowledge - i.e. is only used by tha admin. Other accounts should be granted access as required to other databases, and should not be granted access to the database you want secured.Problem solved for you ... but in a different way to you proposed.
