| For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training. We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk. Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active! Error upon Attempt to Connect

I am an absolute newcomer to MySQL. I've purchased a book as a guide "MYSQL by Paul Dubois" I've installed MYSQL on my Windows 2000 Pro. Desktop, it is running as a service to Windows. I've installed MYODBC also so that I can use MS-Access as a front to the MySQL RDBMS. I've followed all directions to make a DSN connection and when I attempt to connect I get a password error and access is denied. How can I verify the password to the sampdb that came with the MySQL download? Can anyone help me with this issue?Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 7 July 2003
Get MySQL running from the MySQL client first - then at least you'll be splitting your problem in two. You've posted another question on that topic, and I think the answer to that may get you started.This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
