Entering foreign keys into main table Posted by gear28 (gear28), 3 July 2003 When entering foreign keys into your main table, do they have to have the exact same values (VARCHAR etc) as the original. Or just by the name being identical is that enough? Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 3 July 2003 If the primary key in one table corresponds to a foriegn key in another, then it should contain the same data, so should be designed to be of the same type. By design, a part number shouldn't be a type xxxx in one place and a type yyyy in another, should it? After all, it's the same piece of data This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
