For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Java Regular Expressions

Posted by Ken1969 (Ken1969), 25 April 2005
Does anyone know a really good online reference that explains how to use the Java regex functions with nice, simple examples?
I have a whole bunch of very complex regex based processes I need to do returning various outputs from command line apps and it's been taking days of trial and (lots of!) error to do each one.
Any help much appreciated!!

Have a look at http://www.wellho.net/solutions/java-regular-expressions-in-java.html which is an introduction to Regular Expressions and how they're used in Java.  It assumes no prior regular expression knowledge, but it does assume a reasonable grasp of the basics of Java itself.

There's a table of the Java Regular Expression elements at http://www.wellho.net/regex/java.html if you prefer just a very short summary, and sample programs via links from http://www.wellho.net/resources/J816.html.   Finally, if you're getting deeper into Regular Expressions and want to spend time learning about them seriously, we run a one day course on Regular Expressions.
