Unable to put the plugins of Python in Eclipse3.1 Posted by sanand_83 (sanand_83), 12 September 2005 Hi,I am Anand.I have downloaded the Python24.I have the Eclipse IDE which I have been using for the Java programming.I came to know that I can use the same Eclipse fror the Pythin also.So surfed the net and got the necessary plugins( PyDEV plugin) for that from http://pydev.sourceforge.net/download.html .It was a zip file.I extracted it the eclipse folder in the Eclipse folder as advised in the site. Then I kept the plugins folder of the extracted file in the plugins folder of the Eclipse. I opened the Eclipse Application. But the plugins didnot come there......... Do I have to do anything else? Please help. Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 13 September 2005 The manual says ...An alternative is just getting the zip file and extracting it yourself in eclipse. If you choose to do it, just make sure the plugins folder is extracted on top of the eclipse plugins folder. I have not done this, but I wonder if the words "in eclipse" are signifcant rather than "in the eclipse directory". Is there some way that Eclipse manages .zip files and you need to unpack under the control of that? I also note that there are some version issues with installs / upgrades. Are you adding the plugin to the latest version, or to a more mature one? If the latter, do you need to upgrade (or rather to re-install according to the URL you gave in your post). Finally, one of the very common errors in extracting software is to put it in the wrong place ... to get an extra directory in the tree. I'm just asking / suggesting you check that you have extracted it "in" rather than to a directory "below". This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
