For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

hi all

am working on shot code in which i have to replace :

#__PACKAGE__->columns(Stringify => "");
#__PACKAGE__->columns(view_columns => qw/ abstract comments /);
#__PACKAGE__->columns(list_columns => qw/ abstract comments /);

ii dont want thee first line to be altered in any case.
where as the next two lines i want the hash(#) to be taken off and some thing to add with in the qw/ ..../

how to do with this?

i tried that in two steps:
first i add the stuff that i need to in the qw/..../
and in the next i removed the comment.
but this was too generic which removed the comment from the first line as well.

i need the first line to be comented.

have any one got a clue to solve this

thanks in advance.

Can you provide an example of what the ouput should look like?

What is "shot" code?

Are the three lines above part of a larger file?

How do you know which line gets what stuff added into them in the qw/..../ part of the line? Or do they all get the same stuff added?

Post your existing code or the relavent parts of your existing code.
