I won't use DreamWeaver because of it's poor coding techniques. However one of my clients does and I have just spent most of a weekend tearing my hair out over a vertical shifting between her pages and the ones I'm doing that are running from some Perl scripts.

It's taken me a day to realise that the DW template tags create vertical spaces. HTML is expecting something here, making room for it and of course it isn't there - but the space remains.

That is because they are exactly like server side include tags, with: a less than bracket, two hyphens, a space, the code, a space, two hyphens and the more than bracket.

Now this is alright if all you ever use is DreamWeaver, but once you begin to do stuff in a server side language you will run into this problem. the solution is to include the tags into any HTML code that will show on the site from the script. I would assume this will also apply to Java, PHP, Ruby, TCL and every other scripting language. You will have to play around until the shift stops. In this case there were "TemplateBeginEditable" and "TemplateEndEditable" tags in the HTML header.

If you are calling a script in the middle of a page, this might also happen depending on where the template tags are in relation to your SSI tag. It will more than likely be a trial and error method to get things stable.
