For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Make your products easy to find!

I'm posting this to a more general forum as it applies to web based application in Perl and PHP and Java!

On training courses, I always remind trainees that the "customer is King" and your first thoughts on a site that sells your product on the web mucst be to make it friendly to the customer.   I remind people that folks will just walk away from a site if they can't find what they're looking for and make a bit of a joke as to how it's different in real life ....

Or so I thought, until I read .....

Quote:
I have a six month old baby, who is of the typical male variety - hates shopping!  Therefore, my goal is to get in and out as quickly as possible.  Not to spend an extra 10 minutes to trying and find where they've hidden the spices this week.

Once I was so frustrated at not being able to find a product, that I left a full cart of groceries in the isle and went elsewhere.

Ah - there's nothing new in this world after all
