How long does it take? Posted by enquirer (enquirer), 20 January 2004 If I attend a course on programming, will I be able to go away and design and implement an application the following week?Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 20 January 2004 on 01/20/04 at 06:20:50, enquirer wrote:
No, you won't. Just as you need practise as well as lessons when you learn to drive a car, so you need pracise with programming. And just as it will take you months or years to become a really confident driver who can routinley drive hundreds of miles on busy roads every day, so it will take you months or years to become a very effiecient programmer. And yet you would be amazed at just how many employers send their staff for 3 or 4 days training, and expect that the following week they'll be able to program as well and as efficiently as someone who's spent years studying and learning on the job, and has a great deal of experience under their belt.
