For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
My posts don't instantly show up as "most recent"

From my mailbox - but shared since it's of general interest:

Just thought I'd let you know I noticed something a little odd about the board. When I clicked 'home' after posting today, I'm sure it brought back a cached page which didn't show my post as the most recent for its topic. I went back in case i'd forgotton to hit 'post' and did so... then there were two posts when I refreshed. Maybe it's a feature, maybe i just haven't woken up properly yet, but I have a feeling there was some cacheing going on there.

There *can* be caching elements involved - especially where the GET method is used and you have caching servers involved. There can also be problems where someone hits "post" then their connection gets broken - they feel the post was lost, but it wasn't.

It does happen.  I know it happens, probably on virtually every board (certainly this one's sweet compared to others I use ... I got caught into double-posting on a totally different board last night!); I think it's so much rarer on ours, and it's possibly user specific ... users who are effected, beware!

P.S.  Answering the real question too - I think that the YaBB software regenerates its "most recent" list every so many minutes, and then caches it as well. ....
