SYNOPSIS
Regular Expressions are an essential part of programming, but they sure are hard to come to grips with, aren't they? Fortunately, we have the answer for you! Regular Expression Recipes provides you with all the open source regular expressions you'll ever need, and explains how to use each one. This way, you can learn by example, rather than muddling through countless pages of explanatory syntax.
Author Nathan A. Good includes syntax references only when necessary. Languages covered include Perl, PHP, grep, vim, Python, and shell. Web and applications developers, and system administrators will find the examples both accurate and relevant. And this book acts as a useful reference to keep handy for those moments when an answer is needed fast.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nathan A. GoodNathan A. Good is a software engineer and writer currently living in the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. His experience includes UNIX (Sun, IBM, HP-UX), Linux, Windows system administration, and programmingÑmost recently in Perl, PHP, ASP.NET, C#, Java, C, and shell scripting. Good prefers open source software because of its openness, and he thinks flame wars are a waste of his time.
During his career, Good has had the opportunity to work on many different projects, ranging from web-enabled applications, to network event correlation engines and services. When Good's not at work, he sets up servers and PCs for fun. His network at home contains a FreeBSD server acting as a PDC, a server running Debian, one running Slackware, and one Windows XP PC. He recently added a Mac too. When Good is not with his computers, he enjoys spending time with his family, and going for an occasional bike ride.
