SYNOPSIS
For the uninitiated, COBOL is the name of a computer language which uses terminology consistent with business use. This book has extreme merit in that the reader does not need to know a particular machine, but he can understand the purpose and construction of COBOL and its general application to the area of business problems.
The revisions made in the second edition bring in the experience of heavy use of COBOL in the years since it was introduced. Emphasis is laid on the options that people really use, and special warnings are given about errors that experience shows are commonly made.
