ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Daniel GillyA UNIX user since 1983, Daniel Gilly graduated from MIT in 1985 and joined O'Reilly and Associates in 1986. In his six years at O'Reilly, first as a production editor and later as a staff writer, Daniel wrote UNIX in a Nutshell, revised Learning the vi Editor, and had an editorial hand in several books in the X Window series.

After 10 years in the Boston area, Daniel moved to Silicon Valley in 1992. He currently works as a contract technical writer and focuses on using HTML and CGI to develop corporate intranets. Daniel's travels have included three cross-country drives across the U.S. He enjoys singing bass with a top-ranked chorus, the San Jose chapter of the barbershop society. He can be reached on the Internet at daniel3@home.com
